Mason County Courthouse

The courthouse received new electrical and ADA upgrades, masonry restoration, structural framing repairs, and mod bit roof replacement.

The architectural metal restoration required cornice and cladding repair/replacement and new z-t coated stainless steel hanging gutter. The existing asbestos shingles were abated, and new prefinished, custom-stamped metal shingles were installed on the main roof.

New custom decorative sheet metal elements were produced and installed at the original locations. The existing metal on the cupola dome was removed, and new flat seam zinc panels and caps were used to cover the dome.

All four clock surrounds were reconstructed and topped with a new flat seam zinc roof. The plywood clock dials were discarded and replaced with new prefinished metal dials and gold anodized numerals and hands to meet the historic appearance with more durable materials.

The porte-cochere’s corroded metal ceilings’ tiles were replaced with new matching custom stamped panels, and the remaining areas were repaired and repainted.

The courthouse windows and doors were glazed and refurbished, and the entire courthouse was repainted.

The strict requirements of preserving historic fabric, detailed replication of original profiles and, the installation of new or refurbished materials incorporating historic methods, were met throughout the process.
